The city of Lake Oswego is awaiting permitting approval from the Oregon Health Authority before it can open the competitive and recreational pools at its new recreation and aquatic center. The Parks and Recreation Department is hopeful to receive clearance later this month.

Meanwhile, there are other exercise options available and upcoming programs and camps to look into at the facility, which opened in late April and also includes a gymnasium for sports like basketball, volleyball and pickleball, multi-purpose exercise rooms and locker rooms.

The center offers a number of open play opportunities each week for people hoping to play pickleball, basketball for kids and adults, volleyball and backyard games. The play opportunities are first come, first serve and available at no additional cost to members. A daily use fee is required for non-members.

Memberships, which can be for individuals or households and are cheaper for Lake Oswego residents, also include access to the cardio workout room and studio fitness classes. There will be swim and water fitness classes once the pools open.

According to the city’s Summer 2025 Activity Guide, there also will be many classes, camps and activities for varying ages that are available to community members for a cost.

Some of these include: a ballerina class for young kids, a weightlifting camp for high school-aged students, a functional golf fitness class, music and art classes, a youth sports camp, a summer adult basketball league, a fall adult volleyball league and much more.
