I support Kate Lupton because the Lake Oswego School Board needs more than experience in private business and finance. The funding of Oregon’s public education system is complex. All the different sources of revenue and the legal obligations and limitations of how they can be used is about being a good steward of public funds. Kate understands how to make every penny go as far as possible in the classroom. As a public educator and someone with young kids who will be in the district for many years to come, Kate Lupton is who I want to work with on the next school board. She knows what it means to differentiate learning for every student because she has done it and knows how to do it in a way that won’t break the bank. She will be committed to building back up the reserve for future emergencies and bonds. Kate brings a fresh lens to the board. Something the Lake Oswego School Board hasn’t had for a while, is a teacher. When I talk to parents, the thing I hear the most about is the importance of the classroom and support for our teachers. I can’t think of a better candidate to join the board than someone with classroom experience and a commitment to the next generation of students in Lake Oswego. As a current school board member, I am asking you to join me in voting for Kate Lupton so that we can continue our tradition of academic excellence.
