Kate Lupton gets my vote! Kate is a lifelong Oregonian, an educator and parent of three children. Kate’s experience as a teacher for eight years gives her the knowledge of how to improve the academic experience for all students. She also understands the importance of listening to teachers and staff to guide decision making, as they are the ones who interact with our students on a daily basis. She knows we must ensure students are prepared to compete nationally when they graduate high school.

As a mother of three young children, she will have students in the LOSD for the next 20 years, so she knows the importance of making our schools their very best now and into the future. Kate’s background as a classroom teacher is something we need at the school board level to ensure policy decisions are made putting educational excellence first. Her master’s degree in education policy will be invaluable to the school board role and gives her the tools and knowledge to ensure school policies are responsive, flexible and transparent. This will become even more critical with the economic headwinds the district is facing.

Kate has a strong commitment to supporting student mental health and wellness and a culture of belonging. She knows every student is unique and is committed to supporting students of all backgrounds.
