Despite a torrential downpour, roughly 1,000 people attended the inaugural Lake Oswego Pride Festival in 2024.

This year, organizers with LO for Love are hoping for an even bigger turnout.

The event will run from 12-4 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at Millennium Plaza Park and the raising of the Progress Pride Flag will follow at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall. The city of Lake Oswego is a partner with LO for LOve in hosting the event.

“I hope people will see that Lake Oswego has a very diverse community and is open for all,” said organizer Zach Hayes. “Lake Oswego sometimes has a bad rap for diversity. Last year we showed up and showed out and this year we are going to do the same.”

The event will include musical performances from Lakeridge High School graduate Snubby J, who performs upbeat songs via marimba tubes. There will also be a drag show facilitated by emcee Poison Waters. The event will also have food vendors selling donuts, gyros and sushi as well as booths from local organizations. Others who will be on hand include gender and sexuality alliance clubs from Lake Oswego High School and Lakeridge High School and the Lake Oswego Public Library, which will showcase books highlighting diversity.

“Everyone felt very welcomed last year and it’s very palpable in person. This year we’re hoping to make it even better,” Hayes said.
