The local community will honor those who gave their lives serving their country during a Memorial Day event at the Foothills Park veterans memorial in Lake Oswego.

The event, which will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, will include words from keynote speaker and Navy Captain Jonathan Puskas, along with Lake Oswego Police Chief George Burke. There will also be a flyover from the West Coast Ravens, the singing of the national anthem by Lakeridge High School’s Mira Garcia, the posting of the colors from the Lake Oswego Honor Guard, a wreath presentation, a 21-gun salute and more.

“We are there to honor the fallen. We have some Lake Oswego residents who are in that category,” said Bob Hill, a member of the Lake Oswego Veterans Memorial Honoring Service.
